I have been contacted by hundreds of my constituents, who are working in Tourism, Leisure and the Creative Arts Industries, during the Covid crisis.
Throughout the pandemic the government has been slow to support these Industries and we have seen many people lose their employment through either businesses going under or the self-employed no longer able to wait it out.
The reduction of VAT for these Industries to 5% has been of help but with these restrictions due to end on the 31st March. I and the Labour Party are asking for an extension till the end of September.
