Homes for Ukraine Extension Debate

Very shortly the Ukrainian people will have seen a war in their country for nearly two years. Many UK citizens have generously opened their homes as hosts to Ukrainian families.

We are now seeing a much larger number of host sponsorships coming to an end and local council support varying from council to council due to their own current financial constraints, I am frequently being ask by our Ukrainian guests ‘my time is running out with my hosts. What will happen to me?’.  Many of them would like to live independently from hosts now as well having spent a considerable sharing someone else’s home.

This is one of the issues I highlighted to the Department of Levelling up, Housing and Communities this week during the Homes for Ukraine Extension Debate. Watch my speech in full below.
