Today, I raised an important question with the Prime Minister on behalf of families who have experienced the profound pain of having loved ones held hostage.
I have met with families who shared their support for the release of Palestinian political prisoners, noting the success of last year’s prisoner exchange, which saw 50 hostages safely returned home.
In these conversations, family members expressed the overwhelming relief they felt when their loved ones finally came back to them—a moment they had longed for and fought so hard to see. Many of them also spoke about the unrelenting hope they hold for others still waiting to be reunited with their family members.
These families stand as a reminder of the human cost behind these issues, and I asked the Prime Minister to consider this deeply personal perspective in any future decisions.
Compassion, empathy, and an unwavering commitment to peace must guide our actions moving forward.
